The Space in Between (free entrance)
Advanced textile program participants 2025
TextielMuseum | TextielLab aims to become the ideal learning and working environment for makers. As part of this ambition, we want to support emerging artists and designers with an interest in Textiles, through specialized additional training in the early stages of their career. In the Advanced Textile Program (ATP), an international group of beginning talents is given extended access to the resources and facilities of TextielMuseum | TextielLab, and the guidance of distinguished mentors and an inspiring group of professionals in this ten-week program.
Collaborative learning and experiment are central to the program. Each participant brings their own ideas and experiences, along with the vast amount of knowledge, expertise, and facilities from the TextielMuseum | TextielLab, and those of the professional network of artists, designers, and industry partners the museum and lab collaborate with. Taken together, this is an invaluable source for an emerging professional.
Under the title ‘The Space in Between’, the ten participants of the ATP 2025 present a selection of the work that they developed during the program. Each participant brought unique knowledge and questions, learning not only from the experts within the organization but also from each other. A valuable 'space in between' emerged from their intensive collaboration, in which paths crossed, ideas were exchanged and a close bond grew from their shared fascination with textiles.
The ATP participants found an interesting space in between each person’s culture and experience. In their approach, they constantly moved within the space between play and purpose. They also discovered a stimulating in‑between space in the ongoing dialogue between hand, machine, and material. The pieces shown here reflect these fields in which they worked together and underline the value of collective experimentation. In this way, we see a beautiful overview of talents in development through their ‘work in progress’
