Introduction.
Design collective Envisions looks for new, industrial applications of materials. The focus is on the process rather than the final product, allowing for innovative translations of several textile techniques. Collective member Emma Wessel creates inspiring scenarios for possible futures, providing brands and companies with the basis for new ideas. Her work combines scenario thinking and product design with a sharp focus on fashion. While trend forecasting is often about predicting a certain trend by analysing society, Wessel develops fantasy scenarios that include real possibilities in design. New ideas arise during the creative process, which is central to her practice.
Envisions began in 2016 in the heart of Eindhoven, founded by Sanne Schuurman, Simone Post, and Iwan Pol—graduates of the visionary Design Academy Eindhoven. After attending Europe’s largest design fair in Milan, they felt uninspired by the overwhelming focus on finished products and the lack of diversity in design approaches. This experience sparked the idea for Envisions—a collective dedicated to celebrating the design process itself. Driven by a desire to bridge the gap between academia’s open-minded exploration and the professional design world, Envisions was created to showcase everything but the final product. By collaborating with like-minded designers known for their experimental and colorful approaches, Envisions fosters an environment where interaction, exchange, and creativity thrive, proving that the journey can be as inspiring as the destination.
