Various makers are featured in this exhibition, from artists to fashion designers or product designers. They work on commission, for their personal artistic practice, for a special exhibition or research new technical possibilities for the industry. In Research &amp; Development projects, makers challenge the TextielLab&rsquo;s experts and machines to go to the extreme. Every creative process is an adventure; experimenting, searching for solutions and making decisions. &lsquo;Secrets of making #2&rsquo; also shows the collaboration between the creator and the technical expert. What is the division of roles and what do they learn from each other?</p></body></html>

<html><body><h2>Makers, experts &eacute;n machines gaan tot het uiterste</h2>
<p>In &lsquo;Makersgeheimen #2&rsquo; ervaar je hoe de idee&euml;n van de makers worden geboren en waar ze in intensieve samenwerking met de experts van het TextielLab worden uitontwikkeld. De expo toont werk van een 10-tal kunstenaars, modeontwerpers en productontwerpers: Fransje Gimbr&egrave;re, Indr&eacute; Svirplyt&eacute;, Joana Schneider, JAS&amp;CAL, Leonie Schneider, Melonit, Mercedes Azpilicueta, Raw Color, Sofie Leenen en Yamuna Forzani. Ze werken in opdracht, voor de eigen artistieke praktijk, voor een bijzondere expositie of onderzoeken nieuwe technische mogelijkheden voor de industrie. In Research &amp; Development projecten dagen makers de experts en de machines uit om tot het uiterste te gaan. Elk maakproces is een avontuur, met experimenten, het zoeken naar oplossingen en het nemen van besluiten. &lsquo;Makersgeheimen #2&rsquo; toont ook de samenwerking tussen de maker en de technische expert. Hoe is de rolverdeling en wat leren ze van elkaar?</p>
<h2>Ontwikkelcentrum voor textiel</h2>
<p>Al meer dan 20 jaar is het&nbsp;<a title="Meer over het textiellab" href="/textiellab-bezoekers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TextielLab</a>, de professionele werkplaats in het TextielMuseum, een plek waar makers kunnen experimenteren en hun werk kunnen uitvoeren. Onder begeleiding van productontwikkelaars en technisch deskundigen wordt er werk ontwikkeld met computergestuurde en ambachtelijke technieken &ndash; van weven en breien tot tuften en borduren.</p>

<html><body><p>For the exhibition (ON)PEILBAAR WATER, Stadmuseum Woerden asked eight artists to create a work about the relationship between people and water in the Green Heart. For this, Leonie Schneider made two paintings about sinkholes in both the city and nature, created by water washing away the subsoil. In the process, everything seems to be swallowed up by a hole in the ground; a fascinating and at the same time terrifying phenomenon that can create a tourist attraction on the one hand and a disaster site on the other. The paintings capture that field of tension.&nbsp;</p></body></html>


<html><body><p>Schneider came to the TextielLab to transform &lsquo;City Sinkhole&rsquo; and &lsquo;Sea Sinkhole&rsquo; into textiles: a challenging search for materials and colours, which were translated into textured bindings. To create depth in the fabric, thicker yarns were used alongside thinner yarns. Between the matt woollen yarns, a single shiny yarn is also incorporated to get a difference in materiality and make colours stand out. The two representations were merged into one large woven work measuring 480 x 350 cm. A special frame was built to hang it from in the shape of a half-tent that was on display at &lsquo;Prospects 2023&rsquo; by the Mondriaan Fund during Art Rotterdam.&nbsp;</p></body></html>


<html><body><p>Voor de tentoonstelling (ON)PEILBAAR WATER vroeg Stadmuseum Woerden acht kunstenaars een werk te maken over de relatie tussen mens en water in het Groene Hart. Leonie Schneider maakte hiervoor twee schilderijen over sinkholes in zowel de stad als de natuur, die ontstaan door water dat de ondergrond wegspoelt. Daarbij&nbsp; lijkt van alles te worden opgeslokt door een gat in de grond; een&nbsp; fascinerend en tegelijkertijd angstaanjagend verschijnsel, dat&nbsp; enerzijds een toeristische attractie en anderzijds een rampplek&nbsp; kan cre&euml;ren. De schilderijen leggen dat spanningsveld vast.&nbsp;</p></body></html>


<html><body><p>Schneider kwam naar het TextielLab om &lsquo;City Sinkhole&rsquo; en &lsquo;Sea&nbsp; Sinkhole&rsquo; om te zetten in textiel: een uitdagende zoektocht naar materialen en kleuren, die zijn vertaald in bindingen met veel&nbsp; structuur. Om diepte in het weefsel te krijgen, zijn dikkere garens naast dunnere garens gebruikt. Tussen de matte wollen garens zit ook een enkel glanzend garen verwerkt om een verschil in materialiteit te krijgen en kleuren eruit te laten springen. De twee voorstellingen zijn samengevoegd tot &eacute;&eacute;n groot geweven werk van 480 x 350 cm. Er is een speciaal frame gebouwd om het aan op te hangen in de vorm van een halve tent die te zien was op &lsquo;Prospects 2023&rsquo; van&nbsp; het Mondriaan Fonds tijdens Art Rotterdam.&nbsp;</p></body></html>
