<html><body>Voor de meeslepende installatie 'Technicolor' in het High Museum of Art in Atlanta werkte ontwerper Jaime Hayon in 2016 samen met het TextielLab. De Spaanse kunstenaar en ontwerper haalt zijn inspiratie uit de straatcultuur, stripverhalen en de wondere wereld van het circus, en zijn vloeiende tekenhand is duidelijk zichtbaar in deze kleurrijke geweven tapijten.
Hayon behoort tot een nieuwe generatie ontwerpers die de grens tussen kunst en design vervagen. Zijn autonome werk wordt gekenmerkt door een uitbundige verbeelding en speels eclecticisme. Technicolor' in Atlanta's High Museum of Art was Hayons eerste solotentoonstelling in Amerika. Aan het plafond van de Anne Cox Chambers Wing hingen zes grootschalige textielen gebaseerd op ontwerpen die Hayon maakte voor de piazza-installatie 'Tiovivo'. <html><body>These artworks draw inspiration from the dynamic world of Mexican wrestling masks, where colour and texture merge into an explosive visual experience. For the Pop Up exhibition curated by trend visionary Lidewij Edelkoort at the Graphic Design Museum in Breda, Hayon created two monumental masked faces of about 50 centimetres, looking intrusively at each other.
The textiles for this extraordinary installation were developed with precision and passion in a unique collaboration between Hayon and the Textielmuseum - an encounter where craft and innovation meet in the high-tech TextielLab. Here, traditional forms and cultural references transformed into a contemporary design statement that blurs boundaries between art, fashion and industrial innovation.
Each fibre thread tells a story of cultural cross-fertilisation and technological wonder.
