Introduction.

Miranda Devita Kistler is an Indonesian-Swiss artist based in The Hague, the Netherlands. In 2024, she graduated from the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography.

In her practice, Kistler brings photography and textiles together. She explores erosion not only as the physical wearing away of materials, but also as a way of reflecting on cultural change, memory and how heritage transforms across time and place. Her work is rooted in an interest in the relationship between people, nature and their surroundings, inviting audiences to engage with these themes on a sensory and emotional level.

Kistler often translates photography into tactile and spatial installations, transforming images into physical objects and textile works. Through this process, she explores how materials can carry traces of events, memories and landscapes.

Her graduation project, Batu dan Banjir, was selected for the Best of Graduates exhibition by Galerie Ron Mandos in Amsterdam in 2024. In 2025, she received the Swiss Design Award, following which her work was presented at Art Basel in Switzerland. Her work has also been exhibited at Fotomuseum Den Haag and Fondation Fernet Branca in Saint-Louis, France. In 2026, she developed new work during a residency at the Icelandic Textile Center in Blönduós, Iceland.
