TextielLab in motion: building the future of textiles
19 April 2026

Why this is the moment
This isn’t just an upgrade – it’s a leap forward. The TextielLab is investing in technology that pushes the boundaries of textile design and production.
With the new weaving machine, it will be possible to:
- Weave with exceptional precision and detail
- Explore innovative techniques
- Experiment with transparency and layered textiles
The result? A workspace that is not only more advanced, but also more sustainable and ready for what lies ahead.
What this means for your visit
Good news: the museum remains open. In fact, you’ll experience the TextielLab exactly as it’s meant to be – a place where making, testing and innovation happen in real time.
That said, your visit may feel slightly different:
- Layouts may change
- Some machines may be temporarily out of view
- The atmosphere may be more dynamic than usual
Think of it as a rare opportunity to see the lab in action – not as a finished product, but right in the middle of its evolution. Please note: between 20 April and 21 May, the lab will be less accessible.
What about disruption?
Transformation naturally comes with movement – and sometimes, with sound. You may notice activity such as transport, machinery being moved, or work on the flooring. However, these moments are short and never continuous throughout the day.
Some work begins early, from 07:00. This is a deliberate choice to ensure operations are completed safely and efficiently within a single day. At peak times, the car park may also be busier than usual.

Safety first
All work is carried out by professionals, with areas clearly sectioned off where needed. You can explore the space with confidence and peace of mind.
This is just the beginning
This transformation is more than an upgrade – it’s part of a broader vision for the future of the museum and the TextielLab. Soon, everything will come together as the new weaving machine begins its first runs. Until then, you find yourself in a unique position: right at the heart of a workspace that is reinventing itself.
